Montreal offers a wide variety of settings for a photoshoot: nature, architecture, urban streets, waterfront views, or even more intimate atmospheres. Depending on the style you are looking for, the location can completely transform the feel and result of a session.
Here are 5 places I particularly enjoy for portraits, couple sessions, or family photos in Montreal.

1. Mont Royal
Mont Royal remains a classic choice for a photoshoot. Between the trails, city viewpoints, stone stairways, and wooded areas, it offers many possibilities without needing to change locations.
It is especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves change color, but it also works wonderfully in spring and summer.
Tip: coming later in the day often provides softer and more flattering light.

2. Old Montreal
Cobblestone streets, historic buildings, alleys, and street lamps… Old Montreal instantly creates an elegant and cinematic atmosphere. It is easy to move between quieter streets and livelier areas to create more variety in your photos.

3. Downtown Montreal
Downtown Montreal offers a completely different atmosphere. Skyscrapers, architectural lines, reflections in windows, busy streets, and minimalist spaces create a more modern and urban look.
I especially enjoy this setting for men’s portraits, weddings, lifestyle sessions, and more creative projects. The contrast between concrete, light, and movement often creates a very cinematic result.

4. Lachine Canal
The Lachine Canal perfectly blends nature with an urban atmosphere. Bridges, brick walls, water, and pathways create a more modern aesthetic. I particularly enjoy this location for men’s portraits or couple sessions with a slightly raw and authentic feel.

5. Plateau-Mont-Royal
The Plateau has that unmistakable Montreal character: exterior staircases, colorful facades, cafés, and quiet streets. It is an excellent choice for more spontaneous and authentic photos. It is easy to create something lively while keeping an intimate atmosphere.

Looking for a photographer in Montreal for a portrait, couple, or family session? The choice of location is an important part of the experience, and I always take the time to discuss it before the photoshoot.
